Gibraltar 2007 - A young boy looks on helplessly as a thieving Gibraltar ape eats his stolen ice cream. In 2014 30 'disruptive' individuals were sent to a Scottish safari park in Stirling. Legend says that when the apes leave, Gibraltar will cease to be British. Though called apes, they are in fact tailess Barbary macaques. Those in Gibraltar are the only wild monkey population group on the European continent. They can be aggressive, stealing handbags, cameras, sweets and ice creams. They appear to be able to judge time and often wait in groups for the next tourist coach.
