Statute of Gen. Washington, 1875/99. [Boys posing in front of 'Enthroned Washington', marble sculpture of a bare-chested US President George Washington, with the inscription 'First in the Hearts of His Countrymen'. It was designed by Horatio Greenough, and based on Phidias' statue of Zeus Olympios, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. The sculpture was commissioned by the United States Congress to celebrate the centennial of Washington's birth on 22 February 1732]. Albumen print, stereocard.
