A small shrine area near a 17-ton sandstone boulder at the Flight 93 National Memorial. The boulder marks the approximate point of impact of the crash of United Airlines Flight 93 as seen from the walkway leading from Memorial Plaza to the Wall of Names. The memorial was created to commemorate the crash of United Airlines Flight 93, one of four aircraft hijacked in the September 11, 2001 terrposit attacks in the United States. The memorial honors the passengers and crew of Flight 93, who stopped the terrorists from reaching their target by fighting the hijackers whose intended target is thought to have been the United States and Capitol Building in Washington , and is located at the crash site.
