Aftermath of powerful earthquakes which hit Northern Japan, October 2004.

On the bank of the Uono River Japan Self Defense Force soldiers build a camp to house the residents of Kawaguchi village, made homeless by damage to their houses caused by 4 powerful earthquakes which happened within 40 minutes of each other on 23rd October 2004. The earthquake death toll has reached 35 with thousands injured or displaced. Subsequent aftershocks and tremors have slowed down repairs and relief reaching residents of the villages affected. These were the most powerful earthquakes to hit Japan since 1995.
