At 2,200 m (7217 ft) above sea level in the Caucasus mountains these are the highest inhabited villages in Europe. Chvibiani has well preserved stone Svanetian defensive tower houses attached to stone family houses. Mount Shkhara is the highest mountain in the Caucasus range. A UNESCO World Heritage Site.
