Coach House, formerly White Hart, St Mellons number 3791

The Coach House, formerly the White Hart public house in St Mellons, Cardiff. One of four pubs in a small village. Before 1921 the Welsh Sunday Closing Act did not cover Monmouthshire (where this village was until boundary changes). On a Sunday the residents of Cardiff travelled across the Rhymney River to this village to be able to drink (and presumably drive) on a Sunday.
