Structure 8 of the Barnhouse Neolithic Village with the Ness of Brodgar in the background.
Structure 8 was the last building to be completed at Barnhouse Village. Although it contains some elements of the traditional dwellings it also appears to have a more ritual function. It has the complex access arrangement often associated with a ritual site and appears to have links to the adjacent Stones of Stenness - there are similarities in layout and design between the two and it has been sugested that hearth slabs from Structure 8 may have been moved to the Stones.
