From this summit, the dorsal border of the maxilla slopes gently posteroventrally in an almost straight line. The lateral surface of the bone is pierced by small labial foramina, probably for cutaneous branches of the superior alveolar nerve and the maxillary artery. The lower margin is nearly straight, as in primitive captorhino- morphs and younginid 'eosuchians.' The internal surface of the maxilla is more important taxonomically than the lateral.
