Held each September, the annual Santa Fe Fiesta celebrates the peace between the Spanish and Native Americans after the return of the Spanish to Santa Fe in 1692. A Solemn Pricession on Sunday morning is part of the festivities,where the bulto, or statue, of Mary known as La Conquistadora is carried around the plaza and into the Basilica of St. Francis.
