Hubble Space Telescope image of galaxy PGC 6240, with distant galaxies visible in the background. This elliptical galaxy, also known as AM 0139-655 or the White Rose Galaxy, lies in the southern constellation of Hydrus, about 345 million light years away from Earth. It has an unusually uneven structure, and clusters of stars orbiting around it two strong indications that it is the product of a galactic merger in the recent past.
