Grant ad- ministered the government of Canada inthe absence of the 18, 1813, Com. Grant died at his resi-dence at Grosse Point, ten miles above De-troit, and was buried at Sandwich, in Ca-nada. L. K. To gratify the increasing taste for thestudy of Heraldry in this country, we gave,in the December number, the hitherto un-published seal of Jacob Leisler, used byhim in his official acts as Governor of theColony of New York. We continue theseries by a few more :—. Arms of Earl of Bellomont, Governor of New York1698-1701, and Massachusetts. The above arms are copied from threeimpressions of the Earls seal on red wax,in New York Colonial MSS., Albany—allmore or less imperfect; therefore the de-scription of some of the minute parts maynot be entirely accurate, though everypains have been taken to decipher themand reproduce them correctly. The colorsor tinctures of the charges are designatedon the seal only in the few instances men-tioned. Quarterly of eight—1.
