Late Ming bronze statue of the Daoist immortal Wenchang Wang, god of literature and culture. Depicted seated on a throne with hands joined in front of his chest and holding a hu sceptre. He is wearing an elaborate ridged headdress, long ceremonial robes and typical ruyi-shaped shoes. Lovely dark patina and visible traces of gilding.
