Central London 19th November 2011. Unison Union's head of local government Heather Wakefield speaking at the Fawcett Society Demonstration. Fawcett Society members and supporters marching and campaigning today to “tell David Cameron ‘don’t turn back time’ on women’s equality. The 50’s themed demonstration is designed to highlight the growing inequality affecting women in the governments’ response to the financial crisis. The Fawcett Society say “progress on equality for women is being dismantled. A record number of women are out of work, women are bearing the brunt of benefit cuts, and vital services women rely on are drying up”.
