A Freezing Fog Clears From The Reedbeds Around The New Kincardine Bridge - The Upper Forth Crossing - at Kincardine on Forth.
Work commenced on 8/6/2006 on a new Kincardine Bridge – The Upper Forth Crossing – and scheduled for completion during the summer of 2008. With a Project Strategy: to construct a second bridge upstream of the existing; to close the existing bridge to traffic in order to replace the southern approach viaduct and refurbish the bridge; to provide a Link Road around the south-east corner of Kincardine. This twin bridge strategy means that traffic to and from Alloa and the west will use the new crossing, with traffic to and from Fife and the East using the existing crossing and the new Eastern Link Road. This arrangement is the most economical use of existing infrastructure, provides sufficient traffic capacity, removes as much traffic as practicable from Kincardine Village, and avoids damage to the internationally important bird feeding grounds on the Estuary.
