HOLMES BROS. 20 Steuben St. 311 Central Ave. No order too large nor too small to receive our prompt and courteous attention chrysanthemums was soon exhausted, and in addition 50,000 pounds of flow- ers were received from San Francisco. There was also a large quantity shipped from Chicago and other points north. Amateur flower growers also did a good business. In all parts of the city were large signs displayed offering chrysan- themums for sale. The flower store windows have fine displays of chrysanthemums. Schei- nuk the Florist, on St. Charles avenue, has an attractive window display, com- posed of pot chrysanthemums, grown naturally, and cut blooms. A. H. G. PITTSBURGH, PA. The Market. Business seems to be improving in a general way. Some of the florists, how- ever, are complaining. They forget that the volume of business is larger than it was at the same time during last year. The demand for chrysan- themums has been good this season; in fact, at no time has this market been glutted with these flowers. This does not mean that each day the market was cleaned up, but the demand has been regular. American Beauty roses arc in short supply, with a fairly good demand. Other roses are in fair de- mand. The supply, however, seems to l)e just about enough to take care of Ihc usual run of business. Carnations are plentiful and do not move rapidly, but this is n.'itural when chrysanthe- mums are in the market. The quality of the carnations is fine. Sweet peas arc n
