57-61 High Street, St Johns Guildhouse, Ashwell, Hertfordshire, dates to the 15th century. The Guild of St John the Baptist was established in 1476 with the main object of organised prayers for the souls of its members. Now divided into three houses Days Bakery occupies the right hand end which bears a plaque proudly proclaiming that Days (Bakers of Ashford Ltd) was “National Winner Family Baker of the Year 1988”.
