Professor LeithAdams, who removed and packed these remains, says that many of the bonesof the megaceros were evidently split for their marrow, and several elk cannon-bones were found fashioned into awls and gauges, showing that man was notonly cotemporaneous with the giant stag of Ireland, but also may have helpedto exterminate it. The explorations of this cave promise to open out a new erain the prehistoric history of Ireland.
