An early 20th century view of the Boyne Obelisk, aka King William's Obelisk, was an obelisk built in 1736 at Oldbridge, near Drogheda, County Meath, Ireland. It was erected to commemorate William of Orange's victory over King James II at the Battle of the Boyne in 1690, and was located near the spot where William's forces crossed the River Boyne to engage James' forces. The obelisk stood until 31 May 1923, when it was destroyed shortly after the end of the Irish Civil War.

This Photo Chrome image was shot around 1900. In the interests of transparency (no pun intended) the image has been cleaned, sharpened and enhanced. The original sky was bleached out and a new sky has been carefully added.
