Franz Xaver, Baron von Zach (1754-1832), Hungarian noble and astronomer. ÂVon Zach was director of the observatory at Gotha, Germany, and published observations on the Sun in 1792. He is best remembered as the editor of three scientific journals, including Correspondance astronomique, geographique, hydrographique, et statistique (1818-1826). An asteroid and a lunar crater are named in his honour. Artwork published in the Philosophical Magazine and Journal, 3rd Series, Volume 9, 1836.
