THE ACHILLEION PALACE. GASTOURI. CORFU. IONIAN GREEK ISLAND


The Achilleo was built for the Empress Elizabeth in 1891 and named after her hero Achilles. It was used by her until 1898. After her death it stood empty for ten years until it was purchased by Kaiser William II. Today the palace and its' magnificent gardens are a major tourist attraction on the island.
