But no shire need hang its head thatcontains such scenery, still hardly spoiled, as can befound about Hampstead Heath, Enfield Chase, HarrowWeald, and the leafy heights of Pinner, with manyislets of pleasant greenery not yet drowned in thebrick-and-mortar deluge. Its very misfortune of beingso near a rich city contributes one feature of ornamentin notably frequent parks, pleasure grounds, andgardens. Then its hills, vales, and woods can boast aspecial interest in having perhaps inspired more of ourgreat poets than has any larger English county.
