I plan to build two greenhouses 21x 150 feet, five feet to the gutter and twelve feet to the ridge, which should be run at about 60 degrees in the cli- mate of northern Indiana. Will you kindly tell me what size of boiler will be necessary, using steam heat, and how high the stack should bef F. A. Any boiler rated at 5,000 feet would be all right. It will take about 4,000 running feet of l^^inch pipe, but T would get a boiler rated at 5,000 feet. A stack two feet in diameter and forty feet high will serve. F. R. GAS, COKE, COAL? Please furnish information as to the relative heating value of hard coal, coke and natural gas, when either is to be used in the return tubular type of boilers and under normal conditions. The gas is under a pressure of one and one-half to three ounces. I would in- stall the latest improved burners and mixers, but would use no steam or com- pressed air in connection with the gas. The ruling prices in this vicinity are: Hard coal, $6; coke, $; gas, 35 cents per thousand feet. H. The results obtained when the fuel is used under a tubular boiler might be different from the results as they have been determined in a small sectional heater. In the latter case the coke would be the cheapest of the three fuels at the prices mentioned, but this would require that it be so burned as to secure its full effie
