The seed we offer, we are sure, is not surpassed anywhere, and is thor- oughly testfd for vitality before it is sent out. so that it is sure to grow, where soil and season are favorable, and sure to produce an abundance of well-shaped bulbs, free from scullions or stiff-necks. Our aim is to always sell at reasonable prices and as low as any in the trade offeringr strictly first-class seed. f*«il+«fr<» Onion seed should be sown as soon as possible in the « spring, even if the weather is cold, just so the soil works up well. This gives them a good start ahead of the weeds, and before dry weather sets in. After thoroughly pulverizing the soil, sow thinly, 4 to 5 pounds to the acre, in drills one foot apart and about one-fourth inch deep. WTien well started, say four inches high, thin out to stand three to four inches apart in the rows, keeping them well hoed and free from weeds. Onions delight in rich, deep, sandy loam, and succeed well if grown for a succession of years on the same ground. Deep plowing is said to prevent blight. To get heavy crops of finest shaped and high colored bnlbs, especially Danvers and other Globes, large quantities of well-rotted manure must be used—15 to 20 cords per acre would be none too much.
