Of the engravings used to illustrate this subject, thoseshowing silk on spools are actual size, while others, showingsilk in skeins, are reduced one-half. The different varieties are described and illustrated as fol-lows : — 81 CORTICELLI ROPE SILK. Washing Colors. [See engraving on preceding page.] This is a very coarse silk, used for bold designs, either inoutline or solid embroidery, on heavy material, and whererapid execution is desired. Each skein bears a ticket onwhich appears the brand Corticelli, as well as the size andcolor numbers. Corticelli Roman Floss Washing Colors. This silk is slack twisted and has a very high lustre. Itis finer than Rope Silk but much coarser than Filo Silk.
