AGardens by the Bay, Singapore - 3 - 5 March 2019 Singapore aspires to be the world's greenest city; it seems to be succeeding. Of course, climate helps - the constantly hot and wet tropical weather, although unpleasant to humans, is ideal for plants. As a result, greenery grows just about anywhere and everywhere. The astonishing 101-hectare Gardens by the Bay - seen here- is one of many enlightened environmentally-friendly developments in the city. It's packed with beautiful tropical flora and iconic supertrees: these are artificial tree-like structures that provide a framework for vertical gardens and walkways. Here we see the supertree grove silhouetted against thin cloud. Editor Note: This image was shot with a long lens from a public walkway outside the gardens.
