Winslow Homer first established his sumer studio in Prouts Neck in 1884, moving a former carriage House of his brother to a point 200 feet from the Ark, his brothers summer home. He died at the studio in 1910. The studio was purchased by the Portland Museum of Art and years and millions of dollars were spent restoring it. It opened to the public in September image shows the second story balcony porch and the side entrance.
