Part of the old track-bed of the former Wensleydale railway at Appersett, near Hawes, North Yorkshire, Yorkshire Dales National The Wensleydale line ran from the main line at Northallerton in the east to Garsdale Junction in the west, where it joined the Settle-Carlisle line. The section of the line (including the section shown in the photo) from Garsdale Junction to Hawes closed in 1959. Part of the line in the east is currently operated by The Wensleydale Railway. the Yorkshire Dales National Park are considering converting parts of the line to a walking and cycling route.
