The appointment is a popular one. E. W. Guy, of Belleville, 111., spent a day in the city last week. Mr. Guy says the Belleville florists all had a splendid holiday trade and that plants and cut flowers sold equally well. David Geddis, chairman of the trans- portation committee for the trip to In- dianapolis for the carnation meeting, says he has quite a list of those who wUl make the trip. A special car will be engaged for the party. Rudolph Windt, son of J. F. Windt, has taken a position with Edwin Denker, at St. Charles, Mo. The Lady Florists' Home Circle will meet at the home of Mrs. F. C. Weber, Wednesday afternoon, January 10, at 2 0 'clock. Entertainment for the lady visitors to the spring flower show will be planned at this meeting. All the florists along Grand avenue report a satisfactory New Year's busi- ness, exceeding that of last year. They say orchids had a great call, as did violets and Beauties. Ostertag Bros, report that they had several large decorations at the hotels and cafes for the New Year's cele- brators. Cut stock was used principally this year. W. A.
