A Frenchwriter has reported one case in whichthe cornu had three extremities. Dr. W. C. Lyman stated that hehad removed a cornu an inch andone-quarter in length, from the cen-tre of the lower lip. Dr. Johnson exhibited a smallElectro-Faradic machine with a chlo-ride of silver battery, combined ina pocket-case, a cut of which ishere shown. It weighs only fourteenounces. This battery does not needto be prepared each time it is re-quired for use; there is no acid orfluid of any ki-nd, and it is muchcleaner than others. Its strength issufficient to run the helix of the largest size of the Kidder apparatus, and may be moderated at will run continuously ten, and even. twelve, hours, before needing re-newal. The induced current is suffi-cient for medical purposes. Thereis, also, the extra current, and eitherform may be used ; or, thirdly, thecurrent resultant of the first two maybe used. The battery itself is thechloride of silver and zinc. The ele-ments are composed of a strip ofzinc and another of chloride of is moistened by the chloride of so-dium. These are enclosed in a hardrubber case, with a top screw cover, bywhich it is hermetically sealed. Twoelements go with each case, and canreadily and quickly be detached fromthe rubber case when exhausted, andnew ones substituted. The machineis set in motion by moving an arma-ture ; metal handles, or electrodes arealso provided. Dr. N. S.
