Bl̩riot Lands In England, 1909


Louis Bleriot was a French aviator, inventor and engineer. In 1909 he completed the first flight across a large body of water in a heavier-than-air craft, when he crossed the English Channel. In this photograph, Bleriot lands in England at 5:02 AM on July 25. He had flown from France to England, 25 miles in 37 minutes.
