Newton Cap viaduct crossing the river Wear at Bishop Auckland, north east England, UK


11 arch Newton Cap railway viaduct crosses the river Wear at Bishop Auckland and was completed in 1856 to the designs of Harrison, engineer to the North Eastern railway. The railway closed in 1968, and, after serving as a foot/cycle path, the viaduct was converted to carry road traffic, opening for that purpose in 1995.
