When we first sighted theturkeys we were between them and thisfield, and they were evidently bound now getting well on into the after-noon, so we went back after our birds andstarted on the homeward journey down themountains, more than content with thedays success. It was no easy work carryingthat gobbler, and we had to take turns, butto me it was a precious burden, and as wesat .around the open fire that night watchingthe big logs burn I could only think ofwhat real enjoyment I had obtained frommy first wild-turkey
