Three fallen stones balance on a slickrock slope in the Colorado National Monument near Grand Junction, Colorado USA. The layers of the cliffs can show formations from the Precambrian period through the Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous periods. The steepest cliffs are formed from a thick layer of Wingate Sandstone; granite, schist, mudstone, conglomerate, slickrock formations and some limestone are also found here.
