The center of the leaf spot is occupied by the poreof the spheric, black pycnidium. Leptothyrium pomi is an imperfectfungus responsible for the sooty blotch of the apple and otherplants. According to Floyd the same fungus causes the fly speck ofapples. The genus Entomosporium is a small one with closed half-spheric, black pycnidia.
