A woman carving ornaments into pottery work before the burning. Pottery in the village Bat Trang. Pottery making has a tradition of more than 800 years in Bat Trang. The reason might be, deposits of a special kind of white clay in the surrounding area, which is very suitable for ceramic production. Known is, that the technique of producing high quality pottery and porcelain was brought from China to Bat Trang. As in the past centuries pottery making is still the most important source of income for the village. Several workshops and small factories are offering there products to tourist and the domestic market. Some of the workshops can be visited.
