Perhaps a thousend year old Kalderimi or cobblestone paved roads for mulis were the main traffic system in Crete in former times. Nowadays Kalderimi like this one from Agios Ioannis in the White Mountaiins to Agios Pavlos at the coast of the Libyan Sea are popular routes for experienced hikers.
