Letters from medical and surgical societies, deans of the medical colleges of class A and from eminent physicians and surgeons of the United States making an appeal to Congress for an appropriation of the proposed new Army Medical Museum . m you that Dr. North was killedon Decoribor 12th by one of the inmates of this hospital. I believe that such a collection as you describenould bo invaluable. There is no question in ray mind but thepreparation of such material should be und ertaken, and such atask can only be carried out successfully by the government. Unquestionably the proposition of loan sets to beused in our Medical Colleges for the purpose of study vouldbe of untold value. Just ho^r valuable I sappose none but themedical fraternity can fully appr^iate. I do not believe anytext-book can bring to the students the picture of a diseasequite as clearly as the pathological specimen. I am sure the idea of making the museum a center oresearch and teaching in medicine and surgery TTould improve thestandard of physicians in the United States and I am heartilyin accord the movement. I believe it should have theliberal support of the government, Very truly yours, Signed; John R. RossMedical Superintendent, ®6fie DR.
