Sports stadium. Satellite image of the Reliant Astrodome (round, white, upper centre), a stadium in Houston, Texas, USA. The stadium opened in 1965 and was the first of its kind. The naming rights for the stadium were bought by Reliant Energy in 2000. The stadium was mainly used by baseball (Houston Astros) and American football (Houston Oilers) teams, but by 2000 these teams had moved to new venues. A new American football team (Houston Texans) plays in the Reliant Stadium (rectangle, left of Astrodome, built 2002). There are plans to convert the Astrodome to a convention centre or theme park.
