Female mountain reedbuck (Redunca fulvorufula). Unlike the male, the female does not have horns. This antelope inhabits the grass-covered mountains and rocky hills of South Africa. It is a social animal, living in small family or bachelor herds. It is nervous and timid. The herds lie closely together when resting, and if threatened let out a shrill whistle that sends the herd bolting for safety with their tails fanned out behind them. It feeds on grasses. Photographed in Mountain Zebra National Park, South Africa.
