The fool is carried to the mounting block ready to make his speech and then be 'smoked' before the start of the 2016 Haxey Hood. Held annually in the small village of Haxey in North Lincolnshire, the 'Hood' resembles a large rugby scrum. Hundreds of people take part in attempting to push a leather tube to one of four pubs where it remains until the following year's game.
