In the distance are the famous three finger-shaped peaks known as The Three Sisters protruding out of a steep sandstone cliff face in the autumn sunlight in the Blue Mountains of New South Wales in Australia. The peaks are at Echo Point with a large circular manmade concrete platform, giving visitors wide sweeping panoramic views across the Jamison Valley towards Mt Gibraltar 863m which is part of the Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage Area in The Blue Mountains National Park. The nearest town is Katoomba approximately a 2-hour drive from Sydney. The Three Sisters each have Aboriginal names - Wimalah, Meeni and Gunedoo after a local Katoomba tribe. The vast wilderness of the Blue Mountains consists of thick swathes of an Australian temperate Eucalypt-forest of woodlands, swamps, scrublands, grasslands, wetlands, sandstone cliffs, canyons, and waterfalls as well as an abundance of wildlife.
