CAIRNS, Australia – 2nd Lt. Zhao Ping Li, an officer from the Chinese People’s Liberation Army, abseils down a ledge while participating in a canyon expedition during Exercise Kowari 2017 Aug. 26, 2017. During the expedition, participants descended through a canyon using a variety of methods including climbing, jumping, swimming and abseiling in order to work as a team to conquer the obstacles and their fears. Kowari is an annual adventure training activity held in Australia to reinforce trilateral military relationships, trust and co-operation between Australia, China and the United States. (
