Girl, boy and father doing ablution (wudhu) in the courtyard of the Sunna Mosque, the biggest Mosque in Rabat, Morocco

Rabat's most important mosque was built in the 1960s, but because it was designed in a traditional Maghrebi style, it was sheltered from the architectural anarchy of the time and remains beautiful and dignified today. In their day the French wanted to extend Avenue Mohammed V through this site, but the Moroccans resisted, and thanks to the martyrs of that confrontation, the mosque stands here on the site of an earlier one.
