Early on the morning of the 29th, our brigade was formedin line of battle, with fixed bayonets, in the heavy timber outof sight of the enemy, waiting the signal to charge. Consulting the map, it will be seen that the bayou-trunkwas formed by an east branch, and a southwest branch, fromthe junction of which the trunk flowed sluggishly north andemptied into the Yazoo, a little distance, east, and above,the Johnson Plan
