Inthis instance the gold appears to have been used in threads as an embroidery,worked into a pattern drawn with remarkable skill. Fostered by the lavish expenditure of royal means, afterwards carefullysuperintended at Government expense, with the best chemists in the world toperfect the methods of manufacture, and with great artists employed to decorateand design the ware, the porcelain of Sevres has long been pre-eminent. Thefactory is, in itself, a school of decorative and constructive art.
