The general method adopted for three-wire operationis the so-called sectional method, in which the alter-nate sections of any double-track or single-track lineare of opposite polarity, progressively along the line. The general method of sectioning followed is to setoff three zones from each substation to the extremityof its feeding district, and to reverse the middle zoneof the three.
