At each corner an iron pin isdriven into the moulding stool, and on these pins thebottom of the mould rests, the thickness of the brickbeing regulated by the distance to ^vhich the pins aredriven below the top of the stock-board. The hollowin the bed of the brick is produced by a rectangularpiece of wood, called a kick, of the size and shape of thehollow required, which is fastened on the upper side ofthe stock-board. 17. The Strike is a smooth piece of wood, about10 in. long by 1^ in. wide and \ in. thick, and is usedto remove the superfluous clay in the process ofmoulding. The Pallets are pieces of board § in. thick, and ofthe exact width of the mould, but about f in. sets of pallets, twenty-six in each set, arc re-quired for each moulder at work. 18. The Hack Barrow, figs. 15 and 16, is of a pecu-liar construction.
