Pill woodlouse. Coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of a pill woodlouse (Armadillidium sp.). This is a small terrestrial crustacean of the order Isopoda. It has seven pairs of legs, and its compound eyes (red) can be seen behind its antennae. It has a segmented body, which it can roll into a ball when threatened. Woodlice are found throughout the world in moist and dark environments, such as in leaf litter and beneath rocks and logs. They eat decaying plant and animal matter. Magnification: at 5x7cm size. at 5x7 inch size.
