He com-bined in himself the powers of Amsu, Khepera, and Osiris,. Pluh. Seker. and as such became the type of re-creation, new births,and the resurrection. Ptah-Tanen represented one of the great creative lorcesof the world, and assisted in the creation of the cosmic egg,out of which sprang the world. Tanen w as originally the godof living but inert matter, but merged into Ptah he becamean active principle of all life, and the grandfather of thegods.
