Inorder to mass the operations at Evansport, Captain Lee wasordered to gradually unmask his battery at Freestone Point fortwo days, behind a copse of wood which we were graduallycutting away. On the morning of the 25th of September a smallgunboat, discovering our position, ran close to the point to recon-noitre.
